“I’m still convinced that I will make it at Liverpool” says Divock Origi, despite speculation of a January move away from the English Premier League to the Italian Serie A.
The Belgian international forward is the number one target for the Old Lady of Italian football Juventus, according to Calciomercato. The Italian champions are seeking a replacement for their Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic.
“Never heard that one. It’s just a rumour,” is Origi’s response. “I’m fully focused on Liverpool,” he told Belgian newspaper HLN.
The 21-year old had a strong first season at Anfield, scoring 10 times. But this season he has been on the fringes of the first team, with only six appearances and two goals in the EFL Cup. Jurgen Klopp has preferred Roberto Firmino up front, with Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana most often playing just behind him. But Origi is realistic, and believes his time will come. “Of course I would like to play more, but never change a winning team.”
“Klopp believes in me. He asked me to be patient and stay calm – not easy. I want to be the decisive player I was last season.”
