Enyimba in tough Champions League draw

Nigeria Premier League Champions Enyimba football club have been drawn in Group B of this year’s CAF Champions League along with Egypt’s Zamalek, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa and Algeria’s ES Setif.

The Peoples’ Elephant  and their Algeria opponents Setif have won the competition twice each, while Egyptian giant Zamalek were crowned champions on five occasions.

South African champions Sundowns, who are yet to win the CAF champions League tournament, were given a lifeline back to the group stage after AS Vita of DR Congo were disqualified for fielding an ineligible player.

Group A has three former champions,  Egypt’s Al Ahly, Wydad Casablanca from Morocco, ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire and reigning Zambian champions Zesco United.

The first round of matches will begin on June 17th.
