Baraje want better players – Akwa United

Head Coach Of Akwa United Football Club, Zachary Baraje, ordinary should be happy after giving the club its first ever Federation Cup after defeating Lobi Stars of Makurdi on Sunday.

Yes, he seemingly is, but not completely, as has given the club conditions that would warrant his stay there in the coming season.

Speaking after the match, Baraje said, “Yes they want to us to play like we did with the kind of good players that the club has sold out to other clubs. That can only happen if the club buys those kind of players. This I have told them, and it is either they buy such players or I leave.”

Revealing the secret to the victory against Lobi Stars, Baraje said he used the experience of playing against a very good Nasarawa United in the Semi finals to defeat Lobi.

Similarly, Coach Justin Tenger of Lobi Stars has a swipe at his players for the team’s failure to take the day.

Tenger who also spoke with journalists after the match said the players did a lot of wrong things on the pitch including not taking their chances and not marking well.

Akwa United, on Sunday, pipped the Makurdi based Lobi Star to win its first Federation Cup in a match that rarely lived up to the standard of the FA Cup in the past.
